Collecting funding for an organization should be carefully planned by making a good proposal. You can get any funds if your proposal is not attractive enough. Just like you are attracting clients in business proposals, you have the same goal in attracting the funders to help you financially. There are some things to do to help you win this proposal.
Researching the Funders
Don’t just send your proposal to any funders that you know without doing research. If you have funders who have given you some funding before, include them and analyze whether or not you still in a relationship with them. Decide if they can be still approached for other funding. This should be well researched and analyzed to see who are the most potential as your funders.
Listing Potential Funders
If you need more sources of funders, visit your local library to find a list of foundations that can be suited to your organizations. This method is very easy cheap since you don’t need to spend money on going to the library. Another easy method to use is by contacting some grant writers that you know. They have experiences in sending proposals to funders, so they must know some potential funders that you can ask for financial help. You can also contact your governor to check if they provide some financial help for organizations like yours or ask them about a funding agency that you can talk to. Sometimes you might need to attend a public event since some potential funders might be there. When these all methods have been maximized, but you still need some more sources, you can distribute media to announce in your local area that your organizations need funding.
Once you got some potential funders, start writing a proposal by including a storytelling method. This is a good way to approach them emotionally so they might feel touched and cry when reading your proposal. You still should be honest and truthful, not creating a fake story just to touch them. Everything should be based on reality. Use the proper words that are easy to understand, but still professional. You don’t have to be busy making too many drafts. As long as your sentences are interesting and persuasive, you don’t need too much preparation.
Ask someone to review and proofread your proposal once it finished ensuring that your proposal is well written without any errors left
